N 530X Aircraft's History
N530X was built in England in 1964 to become part of the
British Royal Air Force. It was outfitted with a Rolls Royce
(Bristol Sydley) Orpheus 101 engine and issued serial
number XP 530.
It remained in England throughout its military deployment
until 1994 when it was sold by the British Ministry of
Defense and exported to the US.
After making a number of upgrades (converting from air
start to self-contained electric start, modern oxygen
system, new US type instrumentation in both cockpits,
new paint, etc.), the aircraft was issued a US
Airworthiness Certificate by the FAA in 1995. The aircraft
then flew regularly until 1998 when it was hangared by a
new owner. It remained hangared until September 2004
when it was purchased by its third and present owner.
A complete 15 month, $200,000 inspection and
restoration was recently completed and the aircraft
began flying again in late January 2006.
All Royal Air Force records and manuals are available.
